Comrade Joe C. Harris served on active duty with the United States Army as an Infantryman (11B) from 1967-1969. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, the Air Medal, along with the Combat Infantry Badge and Parachute Badge.

Comrade Harris has the distinction of being the only Gold Legacy Life member of our Post. He has served in a number of elected and appointed positions at both the Post and District level over the past three (3) decades. Comrade Harris was most recently the Post Commander from 2016-2021 and is also the Commander of California District 4 for the 2022-2023 administrative year.

Comrade Harris is a genuinely resolute member of our organization and strongly advocates the empowering and mentoring of our young members. He also lends his professional talents as a Photographer for many of the VFW's events and activities.
