Comrade Edward L. Wilson served for over twenty-six (26) years with the United States Air Force as a Logistics Officer, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col). He earned his eligibility for the VFW membership upon serving in southwest Asia. Comrade Wilson was awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal and of course the Southwest Asia Service Medal in addition to numerous other service and achievement awards and decorations. 

It is with considerable pride that our comrade was pleased to announce that he was officially conferred with his doctoral degree, hence earning his Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Educational Leadership. Doctor Wilson has participated in and contributed to much of the recent success of our Post. Comrade Dr. Wilson has demonstrated both in words and deeds his dedication and commitment to community and our veterans. 

 Although retired from the military, Comrade Dr. Wilson continues to remain an active member in the workforce and he holds several volunteer positions in various organizations, to include the Chair of the National Board of Directors of Blacks in Government and a Committee member with the Armed Services & Veterans Affairs of the Compton branch of the NAACP. As a VFW Life Member and Trustee, his professionalism and mindfulness have made him an invaluable elected officer of our organization.
